Lincoln is recalling 366 copies of its 2023 Lincoln Nautilus SUV because a supplier may have manufactured their rear shocks incorrectly. That can cause a long list of problems.
The company says it knows which batch of shocks are suspect and can track each to the specific SUV it was installed in.
The shocks “may over travel in rebound,” which can cause parts of the vehicle that should never come in contact to hit each other after absorbing a bump. Among other things, Lincoln says, that can lead to unexpectedly long stopping distances, damaged axles, warning lights on the dashboard, and unusual vibration.
The company is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. Engineers discovered it at the factory, but not before the company shipped 366 SUVs with suspect shocks to dealers.
Dealers will inspect the rear shocks and parts that overtravel might damage and replace anything that looks suspicious.
