Honda is recalling 245 Passport SUVs and Ridgeline pickups, all from model year 2023, because drivers can lose vehicle steering control.
The company tells federal safety officials that a ball joint inside the steering gearbox “may loosen and detach from the steering rack and result in a loss of steering control.” An operator at the factory building the vehicles used the wrong procedure to tighten the joint on some cars.
Honda has not received any reports of injuries or accidents due to the defect. Technicians at the factory discovered it during an inspection.
Dealers will inspect the steering gearbox on the affected vehicles and replace it entirely if necessary.
