Recall Alert: 2023 Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse

Red 2023 Chevrolet Blazer RS parked on a street at night.

Chevrolet has issued a recall alert affecting just 10 models, but if you own one of those models, pay attention. The defect is rather severe. For owners of eight 2023 Chevrolet Blazer and two 2023 Chevrolet Traverse SUVs, the notice is critical.

In documents filed with federal safety regulators, Chevrolet explains the the vehicles “may have left-hand half-shaft assemblies that are missing a retaining ring.” That could cause an axle to separate, losing propulsion, or rolling away when parked.

Drivers might “hear a grinding or clicking noise from the front of the vehicle” as the problem develops, Chevrolet says.

Dealers will replace the entire half-shaft assembly to fix the problem. Recall repairs are always free.

Manufacturers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to find out if your car is one of them.
