Recall Alert: 2017 Nissan Rogue

The 2017 Nissan Rogue seen from a front quarter angle Nissan has issued a recall alert for more than 125,000 Rogue SUVs from the 2017 model year to fix a problem that could lead to a vehicle fire. The recall covers Rogues built on certain dates, so some 2017 Rogue owners may not get a recall notice in the mail.

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Nissan explains that a water leak can develop, leading to corrosion in a wiring harness on the side of the dashboard. Corroded wiring can lead to short circuits, possibly triggering a fire.

Owners might notice power windows or seats malfunctioning or an all-wheel-drive (AWD) warning light appearing on the dash as the problem develops, Nissan says. But it could occur without warning.

Dealers will inspect the harness and replace it if they see any sign of corrosion. They’ll also coat all potentially affected harnesses in lithium grease, which should prevent moisture intrusion.
