Ford has issued a second recall over the same issue for 332 Mustang cars from model years 2022-2023 because dealers may not have repaired them properly the first time.
Last year, Ford recalled more than 30,000 Mustang cars because their steering wheels could shake and shimmy, causing the car to turn without driver input. The company now says it mistakenly marked 332 of those cars as repaired when they weren’t. It’s the third time this week that Ford has had to issue a second recall because of record-keeping problems.
The company tells federal safety officials that an improperly calibrated torque sensor gets the blame for the problem. Dealers can correct it by updating the power steering control software.
Recall repairs are always free. Manufacturers attempt to contact every owner, but they don’t always get to reach them all. Find out if your car needs any recall repairs at our recall center.
