Porsche has unveiled two sporty new versions of its Panamera: the GTS and GTS Sport Turismo. These two new Panameras, which slot between the Panamera 4S and the Panamera Turbo, are powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 453 horsepower from 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and 457 lb-ft of torque from 1,800 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Compared to the naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 in the previous Panamera GTS, the new twin-turbo V8 has 13 more horsepower and an additional 73 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new V8, which powers all four wheels via an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, propels the Panamera GTS and GTS Sport Turismo models to 60 mph in a claimed 3.9 seconds. Top-speed claims are similarly impressive, at 181 mph and 179, respectively.

As GTS models, these Panameras are built with the enthusiast in mind. The chassis rides 0.4 inches lower than other Panameras, and the adaptive dampers, part of the standard Air Suspension, are recalibrated for better back-road performance. Large brakes (15.4 inches front, 14.4 rear) also help, providing plenty of stopping power.

Other standard equipment on the new GTS Panameras include the Sport Chrono package, Sport Exhaust (with black tailpipes) and black exterior design elements, along with black 20-inch Panamera Design wheels. Inside, black Alcantara fabric and anodized aluminum trim highlight the GTS interior, which also has a heated multifunction steering wheel and Porsche’s Connect Plus module for access to a wide range of digital services. An optional GTS Interior package includes contrast stitching, GTS logos, and a tachometer in either Carmine Red or Chalk. Capping it all off is an optional head-up display, a first for the Panamera, with multiple configurations and availability on all Panameras.

The first generation of the Porsche Panamera GTS arrived in 2011, and now the new 2019 Panamera GTS is available either as a sedan or with the Sport Turismo body style. With its large hatch and 4+1 seating configuration, the Sport Turismo GTS is an effective blend of practicality and performance.

Porsche’s new Panamera GTS models will be available at U.S. dealerships in the second half of 2019, but can be ordered now. The 2019 Porsche Panamera GTS has an MSRP of $129,350, which includes the destination fee of $1,050. The 2019 Porsche Panamera GTS Sport Turismo starts at $135,550 (destination included).
