Porsche to Release New GT Model Friday

A teaser photo Porsche released, perhaps showing the 2025 Porsche 911 GT3

The iconic Porsche 911 turned 60 just a few years ago, but the uber-911 is about to turn a spry 25 years old. “The first 911 GT3 model was introduced to the European market in 1999 as part of the 996 generation,” the company explains.

Porsche will celebrate with a new GT. It’s likely the 2025 GT3, though we’re speculating when we say that. All we know for certain is that Porsche is teasing something GT-related for this Friday

The current model still threatens 8- and 12-cylinder supercars with just six cylinders, creates an astounding amount of downforce, and pushes close to the 200 mph barrier. But aerodynamic updates and new lighting seem likely. We wouldn’t rule out a power boost, either, but it will probably come from modifications to the existing 4.0-liter flat-6 engine.

“The new 911 from the GT department in Flacht will be presented in two variants at the same time,” this Friday, Porsche promises. You can watch live on Porsche’s YouTube and LinkedIn channels.

A teaser photo released this week shows a swan-neck rear wing like that of the GT3. It’s all silhouette, but the silhouette includes a roll bar and a driver in a helmet, so it’s likely a track special of some sort.

It’s also so low to the ground as to be impractical on anything but a track.

We’ll know more in about 48 hours.
