A show vehicle aimed at pleasing the emerging overlanding enthusiast set, the Nissan Titan XD PRO-4X Project Basecamp Concept was revealed at Overland Expo 2017 West in Flagstaff, Ariz. Based on a PRO-4X Crew Cab powered by a Cummins 5.0-liter Turbo Diesel that makes 310 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque, this one-off Titan uses some 60 readily available aftermarket parts from prominent well-established brands including AFE, Hellwig, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Rigid Industries, Rhino Rack, Warn Winch and more to create a unique go-anywhere-and-enjoy-the-stay voyager.

"Overlanding is an exciting form of outdoor adventuring, taking participants into sometimes extreme terrain and climate conditions," said Fred Diaz, Nissan vice president, North America trucks and light commercial vehicles. "We’re using the Project Basecamp to showcase the Titan XD PRO-4X model’s potential as the perfect platform for truck owners thinking of taking their adventures to the next level."
To optimize its off-roading potential, the Project Basecamp Titan features a 3-inch lift kit to complement its custom full auto-leveling air suspension and features 35×12.50 Nitto Trail Grappler all-terrain tires on 17-inch KMC beadlock wheels. Key exterior modifications include unique front/rear bumpers, oversize fender flares and cab-length rock sliders along with a cowl induction hood, an assortment of accessory lights and a winch system with remote mount and quick-connect cables.

This high-profile Titan XD also boasts a Leitner Designs Overland bed cage, Rhino Rack Pioneer rack system, CVT Tents Mt. Rainier Stargazer tent and vestibule and a Foxwing Awning. Other features a Black Forest portable Fridge Freezer, water canisters, tools and emergency kits. While not shown here, the Project Basecamp Titan also tows a trick Patriot Camper X2 Off Road Adventure Trailer that has been specifically designed to handle rugged terrain. While Nissan has no plans to offer the Project Basecamp Titan as a production package, it does intend to have this intriguing one-off on display at a number of other outdoor/adventure shows across the country during the spring and summer to gather consumer reaction.
