It’s lights out at Nissan as the auto maker expands the availability of its Midnight Edition trim package across its car and crossover lineup. Making the announcement at the Chicago Auto Show, Nissan said the package, which features gloss black exterior trim and wheels along with other enhancements, will be offered on Sentra SR, Altima SR and Maxima SR sedans as well as the Rogue, Murano and Pathfinder crossover SUVs. The trim level first appeared on Maxima SR models.
“The idea of expanding the availability of the Midnight Edition package was driven by customers who loved the blackout treatment on Maxima SR and asked for it to be available on other popular Nissan vehicles,” said Christian Meunier, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Nissan North America. “The six models offering Midnight Edition packages accounts for more than 75 percent of our U.S. sales, so we think they will find a receptive audience.”
Maxima SR Midnight Edition a hit
The package proved so popular on the Maxima SR that 85 percent of those vehicles are equipped with the option. Initially available only on black models, the package on all six will be offered with a choice of white, black, gray and red paint schemes.
In addition to common features like gloss black alloy wheels and exterior trim, individual models will also be fitted with equipment that would cost up to $1,300 more if ordered separately. “We’re creating a clear visual identify package across key models in the Nissan lineup,” said Meunier. “The high-optimized MSRPs for the Midnight Editions will be hard for buyers to pass up.” Here’s the rundown:
2017 Sentra SR Midnight Edition
Priced at $490, the package includes 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels, black mirror caps and a black rear spoiler. An extra cost feature is Midnight Edition floor mats. On sale now, the package is offered on both the SR and SR Turbo Sentra.
2017 Altima SR Midnight Edition
Riding on 18-inch alloy wheels shod with low profile 235/45R18 rubber, the Altima 2.5SR sports LED headlights, remote engine start, black mirror caps and black rear spoiler, along with optional Midnight Edition floor mats. The $990 trim package is on sale now.
2017 Maxima SR Midnight Edition
This model returns with the expanded choice of colors along with 19-inch alloy wheels to complement its black rear spoiler, rear diffuser and optional floor mats. Priced at $1,195, the Maxima SR Midnight Edition is available at dealerships.
2017 Rogue Midnight Edition
This new member to the Midnight Edition lineup rides on 17-inch black alloy wheels and in addition to the black mirror caps has black roof rails and cross bars as well as black splash guards, rear bumper protector and illuminated kick plates. The option, priced at $990, is available on Rogue SV and goes on sale in March.
2017 Murano Midnight Edition
Called a 2017.5 model, the blacked-out option package is available only on the top Platinum trim level. It comes with huge 20-inch aluminum wheels, black roof rails, mirror caps and splash guards as well as optional floor mats. The $1,195 option is available now.
2017 Pathfinder Midnight Edition
Also priced at $1,195 and currently on sale is the Midnight Edition version of the 2017 Pathfinder which features the blackout look on its 20-inch alloy wheels, mirror caps and splash guards. It also sports illuminated kick plates, a chrome rear bumper protector and optional floor mats.
