Nissan introduces innovative low-tire-pressure warning system

Nissan

Low-tire-pressure warning systems are hardly new, but for its 2013 model lineup, Nissan has fitted a clever variation on the theme which is being introduced on the 2013 Altima. Dubbed the "Easy-fill Tire Alert," this new setup makes it easier to ensure that tires are properly inflated, a practice that directly impacts both safety and fuel economy. Better still, it also eliminates the need to carry a separate tire pressure gauge which often is less than 100-percent accurate.

In addition to constantly monitoring the pressure status of each individual tire and offering alerts when one or more drop below a predetermined safe level, Nissan’s Easy-fill Tire Alert provides visual and audible verifications when air is being added to confirm that the proper inflation pressure has been reached. Bring a tire up to the recommended level and the vehicle’s four-way flashers activate and the horn beeps one time. Exceed that mark and the flashers blink faster and the horn beeps three times while dropping down to the proper pressure results in another single beep.
