An all-new generation of Ford Mustang is set to arrive next spring, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the world’s original pony car. As part of the run-up to that occasion, Ford has created an online video series that celebrates various aspects of the illustrious history of this iconic model, which has accounted for over 9.2 million sales since the first 19641/2 model rolled into showrooms on April 17th, 1964.

The entire Mustang Countdown series can be viewed on its dedicated YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/fordmustang). Topics covered in the first seven episodes range from a behind-the-scenes look at the Mustang 1 Concept car and the build of the 1 millionth production unit at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant, to a trip through the car’s historic archives at the automaker’s Dearborn headquarters and an examination of the expansive toy industry the Mustang has spawned during its near half century of existence. Future episodes will post weekly and focus on an equally diverse set of themes, including the world of Mustang customs and resto-mods, a profile of the car’s successful racing history and more.
