Mopar ‘17 Dodge Challenger Limited Edition Bows

To help celebrate its 80th anniversary, FCA’s aftermarket performance parts division has created a special limited edition model that debuted in Chicago: the Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger. Ready to launch during the second quarter at selected dealers across the country, this Hemi-powered super coupe will be the eighth, and arguably coolest, vehicle to roll onto the scene carrying an official “Mopar” designation since 2010.

Two-tones, no waiting

Matching high-profile graphics with Mopar-branded high-performance components, the Mopar ’17 Challenger is available in two, two-tone color schemes. Evenly divided between a 160-unit build run, the car’s lower bodywork will be Contusion Blue or Billet Silver — both existing Dodge production hues –with the Shaker Hood, top and decklid panels rendered in a hand-painted Pitch Black applied at the Mopar Custom Shop. Other enhancement include 20-inch alloy wheels with semi-gloss accents and unique center caps, Challenger SRT Hellcat chrome exhaust tips, a hand-painted Mopar “392” logo on the front flanks and a black-on-black Mopar Design badge on the rear spoiler.

Motivation for the Mopar ‘17 Challenger comes from the 392-cubic-inch/6.4-liter Hemi V8 with a Mopar cold-air intake fed by an air-catcher duct in the headlamp area. It makes 485 horses and 475 lb-ft of torque, which heads to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Other running gear tweaks include silver powder-coated Mopar Shaker strut tower braces and caps for extra rigidity and 4-piston brake calipers for an extra measure of stopping power.

Inside, the Mopar ’17 Challenger feature supportive performance seats with Tungsten Mopar logos embroidered on the backs and Tungsten contrast stitching throughout the cabin. Each version of the vehicle also will come with a serialized Mopar ’17 80th Anniversary badge under the hood, numbered 1-80 for either the Contusion Blue or Billet Silver color.

Like its predecessors, each Mopar ’17 Challenger buyer also will receive a special selection of related swag. The kit includes a welcome letter, “birth certificate” that contains all of the vehicle’s vital stats, a bespoke Mopar ’17 booklet and hand-signed rendering created by the FCA US LLC Product Design Office along with a dedicated acrylic memorabilia showcase and a selection of lesser Mopar items highlighted by a Mopar ’17 keychain, 80th Anniversary badge and Mopar valve-stem caps. Pricing for the Mopar ’17 Challenger opens at $56,885 including the $1,095 destination fee.
