Lucid Motors will begin accepting reservations for its second vehicle, the 2025 Lucid Gravity SUV, on Nov. 7. The entry-level Gravity will carry an MSRP of $79,900. With the expected delivery fee included, that would mean pricing starts at $81,400.
A Startup With Some Impressive Accomplishments
If you’re not familiar with Lucid, we’re not surprised. The California-based startup has some impressive early accomplishments to its name. But it still sells cars at startup numbers and is more popular near coastal cities than elsewhere in America.
Lucid is an electric-only automaker that, to date, sells just one product. But it’s a remarkable one.
The Lucid Air is a luxury sedan with the longest EPA-certified range of any EV currently for sale – up to 520 miles between charges. Its high-performance Air Sapphire is one of the quickest 4-door cars ever built, with a 0-60 mph time under 2 seconds.
The Air’s refinement and performance impress our editors. Taller drivers, though, can find its odd windshield proportions a problem.
An SUV With Creative Use of Space
Lucid will follow it up with the Gravity, a midsize SUV with as much interior space as a full-size SUV.
Lucid projects a driving range of 440 miles between charges, though the EPA has yet to confirm that.
The company promises “a confident and agile driving experience” but hasn’t revealed performance specs or let anyone in the press drive the car yet. Kelley Blue Book’s Lyn Woodward has spent time with the Gravity parked.
She was impressed with its usable driver interface, including a flat-topped steering wheel and high-mounted screen so the steering wheel never blocks the driver’s view of screen info. Wide doors and spacious rear seats made for a luxurious experience for second-row passengers (though the third row might not work for adults).
Creative solutions include a bench seat built into the frunk (front trunk), so you could use your Gravity as portable outdoor seating.
Pricing, and a Note on Delivery Fees
Lucid says the Gravity’s base Touring model will have an MSRP of $79,900, and the more upscale Grand Touring edition will have an MSRP of $94,900.
That likely puts the final sale price of the base model at $81,400, with the more luxurious version starting at $96,400.
We say “likely” because Lucid hasn’t disclosed how much it will charge to deliver the Gravity. Automakers split a car’s price into two numbers: the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) and the delivery fee. The delivery fee is not negotiable, so we include it in our pricing.
Lucid charges $1,500 to deliver its Air sedan. We’ve used that figure for the Gravity. We’ve also reached out to Lucid to ask whether it will charge the same delivery fee or, as automakers often do, increase it slightly for a heavier SUV. They tell us they haven’t disclosed the delivery fee yet, but final details will be available Nov. 7.
