The Chevrolet Trailblazer holds a surprisingly roomy interior in its snazzy subcompact SUV body. Buyers have a choice of a turbo 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine making 137 horsepower or a turbo 1.3-liter 3-cylinder producing 155 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models use a continuously variable automatic transmission, while all-wheel-drive models feature the 1.3-liter mill paired with a 9-speed automatic. The FWD Traiblazer is rated by the EPA at 31 mpg combined; the AWD model comes in at 27 mpg combined.
Chevy is known for offering a good amount of comfort, convenience, and safety features at reasonable prices. Competitors in the Trailblazer’s class include the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, and Kia Seltos.
The 2024 model year sees a midcycle update that includes a revised front end, new wheel designs, and two new exterior colors that, thankfully, aren’t white or gray. Cruise control and a high-definition rear camera are now standard across the lineup, as well as a few other interior features, which we’ll cover below.

Passenger Room and Comfort
It may be small on the outside, but the cabin has a generous amount of passenger room. The rear seat has over 38 inches of headroom and 39 inches of legroom, plenty for adults to feel comfortable.
The entry-level Trailblazer LS comes with manually adjustable front seats. An 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar is employed in the Trailblazer LT trim with the Convenience Package. The top two trims, the Activ and the RS, gain heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a rear seat folding center armrest.
Features and Tech
The Trailblazer dash features a prominent 11-inch infotainment touchscreen for every grade, a standout among its peers. There’s also a standard customizable 8-inch digital instrument cluster and push-button start. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included across the lineup, making smartphone integration a breeze. All trims have Wi-Fi hot spot capability, and there’s a pair of USB chargers up front, one USB-A and one USB-C.
Automatic climate control is available on the Chevy Trailblazer LT, Activ, and RS models.
The base 2024 Chevy Trailblazer comes with a 4-speaker sound system; the rest of the grades get a 6-speaker unit. A Bose 7-speaker audio system is optional on the Activ and RS.
Materials and Design
A certain amount of black plastic is to be expected in the cabin at this price point, but Chevy has at least given it a pleasing texture. Colored trim and chrome accents add personality to the higher trim levels. The dash design emphasizes the sizeable digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, giving the interior a modern feel.
Cloth seats are standard on the LS and LT grades; the Activ and RS get faux leather. The RS also adds red stitched accents and a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel.
Cargo Room and Flexibility
With over 25 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, the Trailblazer has one of the roomiest cargo compartments among subcompact SUVs. Fold the 60/40-split rear seats forward, and that space increases to an impressive 54.4 cubic feet. In a thoughtful twist, the front passenger seat can be folded flat to accommodate long items like surfboards or lumber, provided those items are no longer than 8.5 feet.
