The 2024 Buick Envista is a stylish new subcompact SUV with seating for five. It competes against a wide roster of small, fuel-efficient SUVs that includes the Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Setting the Envista apart from the crowd is an eye-catching design that includes narrow headlights, a wide grille, sculpted sides, and a tapered roofline. It’s definitely not what many car shoppers might expect when considering a Buick. Even though it looks so sporty, the Envista is Buick’s least expensive offering and one of the most budget-friendly small SUVs available.
Offered in three trims — Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir — every 2024 Buick Envista is motivated by a 137-horsepower turbocharged 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard across the board; all-wheel drive is not an option.

Passenger Room and Comfort
Stretching approximately 182.6 inches long, the Envista is about three inches longer than a Honda HR-V or 10 inches longer than a Kia Seltos. Yet this is still an SUV with tidy proportions that make it easy to navigate urban traffic. Supportive front seats are complemented by rear seating with adult-friendly levels of legroom. If there’s one price to pay for the sleek shape, it’s this: The sloping roofline cuts significantly into the rear headroom.
Manually adjustable cloth seats with leatherette inserts are found in the Preferred trim, whereas the Sport Touring has leatherette upholstery. The upscale Avenir gets standard leather. Heated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, and a heated steering wheel can be added to the Envista, beginning with the base Preferred trim. An available moonroof helps illuminate the cabin, but you’ll have to step up to the Sport Touring or Avenir to add it.
Features and Tech
Despite the Envista’s highly accessible starting price, Buick doesn’t skimp on tech features. Standard is an 11-inch infotainment system perched atop the center of the dashboard. Alongside it and in front of the driver is an 8-inch digital instrument cluster.
This presents a nice and modern look to the Envista cabin, plus it comes with sought-after items like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and multiple USB ports to keep everyone happy and charged up.
Automatic climate control also comes standard, with button controls on the dashboard. This bucks the increasingly common trend of making frequently tweaked features — like stereo volume and cabin temps — accessible only via a touchscreen. Speaking of the stereo, it’s a 6-speaker audio system in all Envista trims.
Materials and Design
Generally speaking, the cabin of the 2024 Buick Envista is a much safer play than its extroverted exterior. The cloth and leatherette seats in lower trims deliver plenty of support, and rear legroom is generous for a subcompact SUV. Headroom back there is another story, especially for taller adults. On a positive note, the wide expanse of screens is attractive, and the trim materials are nicely finished.
Direct rivals include the Mazda CX-30 and Honda HR-V, which have interiors a notch above the Envista’s. That stated, the Envista has a quiet and tranquil cabin, exactly what you’d expect of a new Buick. It’s nice to see high levels of refinement in an SUV at such an affordable price point.
Cargo Room and Flexibility
Because of its tidy proportions and tapering tail, the Envista doesn’t offer the last word in cargo capacity. Behind the 60/40-split folding rear seatback, you’ll find 20.7 cubic feet of storage volume.
While that’s not bad, many other small SUVs provide more room. With the second row folded, the available space expands to 42.0 cubic feet. Respectable, but nowhere near class-leading.
