Kia Sorento Recalled Over Lighting Problem

Kia has recalled 74,469 Sorento SUVs because a software error can deactivate their headlights and taillights.

Affected models include some, but not all, units of the:

Kia tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a “software logic error” can cause momentary loss of low-beam headlamp and tail lamp illumination to possibly occur while driving.

The problem only affects cars built on certain dates.

Dealers will fix it with a software update. However, these cars can’t receive updates over the air, so owners must bring them to the dealership for the patch. Software updates are often quick service appointments.
