The Kia EV6 still looks fresh, having debuted for the 2022 model year. But it’s already getting a refresh. Kia will introduce an updated version for the 2025 model year.
The company hasn’t revealed the refresh in America yet. But it recently put the updated version on sale in its home market of South Korea. That gives us a pretty good idea of what changes shoppers can expect when the 2025 EV6 appears in the United States.
Automakers sometimes tweak cars in small ways between markets. So, the version revealed in South Korea may not be exactly what goes on sale stateside. But Kia builds the EV6 at a single factory for global sale, so we don’t expect major differences.
We’ll see fashionable linear “star-map” lights, a larger battery for longer range, and an interior highlighted by a new curved display screen.
The car’s shape stays the same—and it should. Our editors love the look of the EV6. Expert test driver Matt Degen called it “exciting and visually enticing,” blending “aspects of a hatchback, sports car, and possibly something from out of this world.”
But the lighting signature changes. Kia designers have adopted linear constellations of LEDs as a theme. It’s hard to imagine adding a sportier touch to the EV6, but the new lights have pulled off the trick. In the rear, a wide arc of red is narrower than the current model.
The EV6 today is available with a choice of two batteries. That will likely be true in 2025, too, but the larger of the two will grow. Today, it’s 77.4 kilowatt-hours. In 2025, it will be 84 kWh. No one was complaining about the EV6’s range, up to 310 miles. But the larger battery should extend it.
The interior changes are modest but lend an air of cool. The EV6 has always used two screens mounted together in a single housing, so they look like one wide screen. Now, the unit is curved.
We’ll have to wait for Kia to reveal the U.S.-spec version to know more. But we expect the changes to be the same. Now that the company has revealed the car at home, our wait likely won’t be long.
