Jaguar and Land Rover together have recalled 2,128 vehicles because an oil leak can lead to an engine fire.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2024 Jaguar F-Pace
- 2024 Land Rover Defender 90/110/130
- 2024 Land Rover Discovery
- 2024 Range Rover
- 2024 Range Rover Sport
- 2024 Range Rover Velar
The companies tell federal safety regulators that a supplier used “the incorrect specification of plastic” to construct oil filter housings for the cars.
When exposed to an engine’s heat, the housings can crack. This can spill flammable oil onto hot engine parts, risking a fire. Parent company JLR says, “There have been a small number of fires as a result of this concern.”
Dealers will replace the housing, the filter, and the o-rings that seal it in place with a new part made with the correct material.
Recall repairs are always free. Manufacturers attempt to contact every owner, but they don’t always reach them all with the news. Find out if your car has ever been recalled at our recall center.
