Infiniti will end production of its entry-level QX50 SUV and QX55 SUV Coupe after the 2025 model year, the brand has confirmed.

The move will temporarily leave dealers with just two models to sell, the midsize QX60 and all-new full-size QX80 SUVs.

Nissan Americas product planning boss Ponz Pandikuthira told industry publication Automotive News, “If you go into a showroom and you have cars like the QX60, the QX80, the special versions we have planned — QX50 and QX55 start looking dated. So we have to make the tough call to focus on the new lineup.”

Infiniti Had a Troubling Year, But a Recovery Plan Is Possible

It also comes as parent company Nissan, in financial trouble, seeks salvation through a possible merger with rival Honda. Infiniti’s own sales fell 10.2% in 2024. Dealers sold just 58,070 vehicles in all of 2024 — about 10% of the number rival Lexus sold.

However, Infiniti leaders say a brand renaissance is coming. Last year, the company showed off four planned future models, including a sleek new QX65 crossover coupe and the company’s first all-electric model.

The company also unveiled a new logo and a new look for future dealerships, complete with a signature scent.

It’s not clear whether these plans would survive a possible Honda merger.

About the Canceled Models

For the 2025 model year, Infiniti will continue producing the QX50 and QX55. Dealers sometimes accept lower offers for canceled models to make room for cars the manufacturer still plans to advertise, though we can’t be sure that will be the case with so much of Infiniti’s future unclear.

Our editors like the 2025 QX50’s smooth ride and comfortable seats but find the cabin tech a bit dated. The QX55 is essentially a more stylish QX50, trading some cargo space for a rakish roofline and a sportier look.
