The Infiniti Q50 has a lot to offer, but by the standards of the automotive industry, it’s an old design. The car sold in dealerships today appeared in the 2016 model year. It’s still here for the 2022 model year. That makes it one of the most proven designs on the road but also makes it seem a little dated. Infiniti hopes to counteract that second perception with a technology update.
The point of entry is now $42,100 for the Luxe trim. That looks like a significant price increase from last year, but it isn’t. Few buyers opted for the less expensive Pure trim last year, so Inifiniti has dropped it from the lineup.

With the bargain model gone, the basic Q50 is now quite well equipped. It features leather upholstery and a 16-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system. Wireless Apple CarPlay is now standard as well. The Android Auto still uses a USB port.
Luxe and Sensory models continue with the same, well-liked 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 good for 300 horsepower. Red Sport 400 models get a 400-horsepower version. It comes with a 7-speed automatic gearbox that features a manual mode. All three trim levels are available in rear or all-wheel-drive.
Infiniti fans know the Q50 is a reliable car with many high-tech features and a responsive engine that is fun to drive, if not quite a rival for the BMW 3-Series and other sport sedans it’s sometimes marketed against. But it is now the oldest remaining sedan in parent company Nissan’s stable. If you’ve always wanted one, we’d suggest considering a 2022. Infiniti hasn’t announced a plan to replace the car. But it’s hard to imagine it soldiering on into a ninth and tenth year in its current form.
