Hyundai Recalls 2025 Tucson, Santa Cruz For Rollaway Risk

2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited in Ultimate Red

Hyundai has recalled 42,465 Tucson SUVs and Santa Cruz pickups from model year 2025 because they can shift out of park without the brake pedal depressed.

Hyundai tells federal safety officials that factory workers routed a wiring assembly incorrectly on certain dates last year. The wires may interfere with the shift lever lock. If that happens, drivers can shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal, even by accidentally bumping the shift lever.

Dealers will re-route the wiring harness to eliminate the rollaway risk. Hyundai says owners can continue driving the cars before the repair, but the company recommends they always set the parking brake when parking to prevent the vehicles from moving.

Recall repairs are always free.

Carmakers try to notify the owners of recalled vehicles, but those efforts aren’t always 100% effective. To check if your car has any outstanding recalls, try our easy VIN check tool in our recall center.
