Hyundai Ioniq, Kona EV to Come with Complimentary Fast Charging

2021 Hyundai Kona EV

Hyundai has partnered with Electrify America to offer 250 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of free charging to owners of 2021 Kona Electric and Ioniq electric vehicles (EVs). The offer applies to new buyers as well as those who have already bought a 2021 Hyundai EV.

Hyundai explains, “customers can access their complimentary charging by the easy-to-use Electrify America mobile app,” which will help them locate Electrify America charging stations. The company has a network of more than 2,400 DC fast-chargers and claims that 96 percent of Americans live within 120 miles of an Electrify America charger.

“Our Kona and Ioniq EV owners are getting additional peace of mind when heading out on longer trips with prepaid access to Electrify America’s national fast-charging network,” says Olabisi Boyle, Hyundai Vice President of Product Planning and Mobility Strategy.

That 250 kWh figure equates to about 1,000 miles of EPA-estimated driving range in either of Hyundai’s current EVs.
