The Walt Disney Company celebrates its 100th birthday this year. To commemorate the milestone, Disney has teamed up with Hyundai to build a limited edition electric vehicle (EV) with a unique wheel design and Disney logos embossed on the seats. The EV talks in a chipper voice and has a mischievous sparrow for a best friend. We only invented the last part of that description.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum Edition comes painted in Gravity Gold Matte and rides on wheels inspired by Disney’s mouse-ears logo. It wears the Disney100 logo on exterior badges and floormats and embossed on its front seat headrests. Unique “Disney-inspired” trim strips decorate the front and rear doors.
On startup, Hyundai says, the car’s entertainment system “features iconic Disney music, the Disney100 logo and pixie dust.”
Hyundai hasn’t released pricing for the Disney collaboration. The ordinary Ioniq 5 starts at $41,450, but it seems possible that you get this one with a heartfelt wish.
Hyundai also hasn’t said which Ioniq 5 trim level the model is based on, so we don’t know if it’s animated by a single motor or a pair of them for all-wheel drive. We’ve reached out to Hyundai to ask for clarification.
Nearly the only piece of definite information we have on the model is that it will be rare. Hyundai plans to build just 1,000 editions. “The limited-production vehicle will go on sale in early 2024,” the company says.
