The Honda CR-V is one of the most popular SUVs on sale today thanks to its peppy but fuel-sipping powertrain, roomy and well-appointed cabin, plus a strong reputation for reliability and resale value.
The CR-V lineup starts at $26,400 and tops out with the CR-V Touring at $36,200, transforming along the way from a family-friendly runabout – one where spilled juice boxes and smudged chocolate bars are part of daily driving – into a near-luxury vehicle, one that’s potentially fancy enough to make sippy cups and crumbly cookies strictly forbidden.
There are a handful of specialty and appearance-oriented packages available, but generally speaking the Touring trim is fully loaded at $36,200. Let’s take a look at what that includes:
190-horsepower Turbo 4-cylinder and AWD
One thing the CR-V Touring shares with every other trim is the 190-horsepower 4-cylinder engine that’s nestled under the hood. This is the only powertrain offered in the CR-V and it comes paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). All-wheel drive is available across the lineup, but it’s included as standard equipment on the range-topping Touring.
Upgraded Infotainment System
The CR-V Touring also comes with the upgraded infotainment system that’s found on all but the base model. This includes a 7-inch touchscreen that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – two must-have features for many car shoppers and perhaps every one of our editors. Other tech touches in the CR-V Touring include satellite radio, navigation, a 9-speaker stereo, wireless device charging, and USB ports for the first and second row.
Added Exterior Style
Don’t get us wrong, this CR-V remains pretty stealth-like in terms of its styling. Yet the Touring trim does add some standout cosmetic touches, such as more exterior chrome accents and a set of handsome 19-inch alloy wheels.
Leather Seating and Heated Seats
One of the best things about the Touring trim is that it comes with pretty much everything offered on the CR-V’s lower tiers. This includes leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and power-adjustable front seats.
Hands-Free Power Liftgate (and a Huge Trunk)
This is a feature you never knew you needed until you have it. The CR-V Touring’s power-operated liftgate makes daily errands or bag-intensive road trips so much easier. The rear hatch also opens to reveal one of the CR-V’s best attributes, too. When it comes to cargo volume, few compact SUVs come close to matching the roughly 39 cubic feet of space behind the CR-V’s second-row seats. Fold down the 60/40 split rear seatbacks and there’s 75.8 cubic feet of cargo volume.
All of the CR-V’s Safety Features
The CR-V Touring comes with every available active safety feature offered on Honda’s most popular SUV. This includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, not to mention the Honda Sensing suite of safety items included on all other trims. Features bundled into this package include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control.
