Anyone who buys one of Ford’s Raptor models is probably paying attention to car culture and the latest performance numbers even after they’ve driven their new vehicle home. A Raptor is a lifestyle purchase at least as much as it is a way to get around.
So Ford wants to keep impressing owners by keeping their vehicles up to date.
“Look away from the Colorado ZR2 Bison,” they seem to say. “Your Raptor is still improving.”
Ford has released upgrades for its 2024 Ranger Raptor off-road truck and 2022-2024 Bronco Raptor desert-running SUV. Both vehicles use the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. For $825, the upgrade boosts its power:
- Ranger Raptor: Torque jumps from 430 lb-ft to 536 lb-ft, while horsepower increases from 405 to 455
- Bronco Raptor: Torque increases from 440 lb-ft to 536 lb-ft, and horsepower climbs from 418 to 455
Owners can buy the upgrade with cash or Ford Rewards Points. Anyone who attends Ford’s Raptor Rally, an exclusive one-day event near the Ford Performance Racing School in Fairfield, Utah, on Sept. 21, will receive a 20% off coupon.
Raptor Rally tickets cost $500 on their own and don’t include travel or hotel stay.
The update is software, but Ford can’t push it to the vehicles over the air. Owners will need to bring Raptors into the dealership to have it installed.
