Ford is mounting a major assault on this year’s SEMA gathering that will complement an armada of one-off concepts with the unique Ford Dream Garage — a 750 square-foot area on the main stand that will "showcase the brand’s commitment to helping enthusiasts imagine, create and install custom garages in their homes" – along with a test track outside of the Las Vegas Convention center. As for the hardware on hand, here’s a quick look at seven Ford-based vehicles that are being featured.
2013 Ford Fiesta SE Concept by B-Spec Magazine
Finished in vibrant SEM Color Horizons Candy Blue with brushed aluminum accents, a 3dCarbon body kit and rear wing, and 17-inch Rotiform NUE alloys wrapped in 205/40 Toyo Proxes 4 Plus tires, the 2013 Ford Fiesta SE Concept by B-Spec Magazine looks sharp and is ready to play hard. The car’s 1.6-liter engine is fortified with a DC Sports cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust system while the chassis features an AirREX air suspension package and big, Wilwood Engineering front brakes. A custom interior treatment by M2-Motoring features Roadwire leather seat covers, a premium Jensen Mobile Audio system, 12.1-inch front flip-down monitor and dual touchscreen headrest monitors.
2013 Ford Focus ST Cosworth CS 330 by M&J Enterprises
Finished in Tangerine Scream with a high-profile Cosworth body kit and understated graphics, the 2013 Ford Focus ST was born from an M&J Enterprises vision that also involved Ford Motor, Cosworth LLC and Ford Racing. A Cosworth Turbo upgrade and stouter internals are matched with Ford Racing intake/exhaust plumbing to bump output of its 2.0-liter EcoBoost four to a stunning 330 horsepower, which heads to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The Blue Oval’s in-house go-fast team also revamped this ultra-ST’s chassis bits to handle that extra muscle with a coil-over suspension and Big Brake kit while 19-inch Cosworth RS2000 alloy wheels and 235/35 Pirelli PZero tires round out the mix.
2013 Ford Fusion Tjin Edition
A subtle but intriguing take on Ford’s new mid-size sedan, the Tjin Edition Ford Fusion shows off the car’s potential on multiple levels. Visually, a 3dCarbon lip kit, Webasto sunroof and LightWurkZ head and fog lamps are set off with DuPont Beige paint. Functional upgrades to its 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine include a Unique Fabrication/Vibrant turbo kit and side-exit MagnaFlow exhaust system with power heading to all four wheels via a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. A Pedders coil-over suspension, Sticky Falken FK452 tires on 21-inch iForged Concave alloy wheels and upsized Baer brakes highlight the dynamic tweaks while a custom Katzkin interior treatment is matched with a primo sound system by Scosche Audio.
2013 Ford Escape SE AWD by Heide Performance Products
Wearing a full HPP body kit and finished in custom PPG Olive Juice paint that was formulated by Heide Performance Products, this edgy Escape also features a custom Katzkin leather and ostrich interior trimout. Mechanical upgrades include Eibach sport springs, EBC high-performance brake pads and a freer-flowing exhaust system that uses Focus ST tubes and tips. As a finishing touch, the HPP Escape rides on 20-inch Forgiato 2.0 Otto alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40 Yokohama tires.
2013 Ford Mustang GT Concept by Ringbrothers
Embracing street-machine cues and hard-edge powertrain/chassis elements, the 2013 Ford Mustang GT Concept by Ringbrothers features a house-designed signature carbon fiber body kit, front splitter, hood and billet aluminum side vents all trimmed in eco-friendly BASF waterborne paint. The car’s 5.0-liter V8 is fortified with a ProCharger intercooled supercharger and FlowMaster exhaust plumbing. It’s backed by a 6-speed SelectShift automatic that sends power to the rear wheel via a heavy duty Driveshaft Shop driveshaft and Moser Ford 9-inch rear end. A BMR Mustang suspension kit, 6-piston caliper Baer Brakes with Ford Racing cooling ducts and staggered-size HRE Ringbrothers alloys mounting 19-inch Nitto tires up front and 20-inch rubber in the rear add a new measure of dynamic control to the package. While its Upholstery Unlimited custom leather interior features a Ring Brothers rear-seat delete kit with an internal spare tire fitment.
2013 Ford Taurus SHO by CGS Motorsports
Another subtle stormer with decidedly formal overtones, the 2013 Ford Taurus SHO by CGS Motorsports gets its white/black/red exterior courtesy of DuPont Custom Refinishes and 3M Scotchprint wraps. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 beneath its hood is fortified with a JET Performance mass air sensor and computer control module as well as CGS cold-air intake and cat-back exhausts. H&R Sport coil springs, big Baer disc brakes with 6-piston calipers and 22-inch/3-piece Kompression forged alloy wheels with Pirelli PZero tires complete the hardware upgrades while the suitably stylish interior is highlighted by Pecca Leather custom seating.
2013 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD by Forgiato
Creating a bolder take on the basic theme, the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport by Forgiato showcases a custom wide-body kit fabricated by TS Designs and a stunning PPG custom Lamborghini Pearl White paint finish. No changes were made to the Explorer Sport’s 3.5-liter/365-horsepower Ecoboost V6, paddle-activated 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission or 4-wheel drive system but this sleek SUV does get a tauter suspension tune and rides on 26-inch Forgiato forged three-piece alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion tires
