We’re rapidly approaching the end of the year (and decade) which means that now is one of the best times to score a really great deal on a 2019 or 2020 vehicle in any number of Holiday Sales Events or Year End Car Deal programs by various manufacturers.

While Black Friday appears to have been a boon to most automakers, there are still plenty of 2019 and 2020 models on the lots that dealers are looking to move.

That means that for the month of December we’ll continue to see deals that are similar to those we saw for Black Friday. These include 0-percent financing, tremendous cash-back offers (particularly from automakers like Chevrolet, GM and Fiat-Chrysler)  and incentives on 2019 and some 2020 vehicles. This month we’ve added a few automakers to the list because even high-end luxury makers like Porsche and Maserati are offering discounts. Here are a few of the best car deals for December 2019.

Deals with a Few Caveats

Most of the deals below include low or 0-percent APR financing for a specific term. In those cases, you should expect that you must have stellar credit and finance through the manufacturer’s captive banking arm to qualify. For example, if you want a BMW for the advertised holiday deal, you’ll need to finance through BMW Financial directly.

A word of advice before heading out to do your car shopping during the holidays: Know what you want before you get there. Be sure to head to the showroom prepared for potentially longer-than-normal-waits since most of these deals end by January 2 or January 6, 2020. Know that paperwork takes a long time to process and don’t put off your car shopping until the last minute when dealers will be closing early for holidays and inventory will dwindle.

It always pays to come with a pre-approval for financing or a loan in hand for the car you want and know what you are doing when purchasing a new or used car.  You should also do a quick check online (don’t forget to enter your zip code) to be sure that your local dealer is offering the same discounts we mention here as some are location-based and available only to well-qualified buyers with good credit. It’s also always a good idea to shop around for the best rates for your financial situation.

Loyalty rewards vs. competitive car lures

Also be aware of loyalty and conquest deals. Manufacturers looking to keep you from shopping elsewhere may have some money geared to those who already own or lease their vehicles (and in some cases may actually allow you to get out of a lease early—a so-called pull ahead deal). Other makers, looking to lure buyers away from the competition may have special deals if you currently own or lease a competing model to the one they are trying to promote.

As always, do your research and be sure to read the fine print of any deal before you sign on the dotted line. Many of these deals come with lots of limitations so be sure that you understand the details before you buy or lease.

Here’s the latest scoop on year-end deals:

Acura

Acura is offering leasing deals for four models for December. You can lease a 2019 Acura ILX for $219 per month for 36 months (with $2,799 due at signing) if you qualify. If you’re looking to buy, Acura is offering a special APR of 1.9-percent to well-qualified buyers looking to get into a 2020 Acura RLX. While we don’t yet have a review of the 2020 Acura RLX up yet, you can check out the features in the 2019 Acura RLX.
