The least expensive gas-powered Cadillac Escalade available in the 2025 model year will set you back just under $90,000. Its electric equivalent will cost as much as one and a half of those.
Cadillac has released pricing for the brand-new all-electric version of its flagship SUV, and the contrast is extreme. The entry point for the gas-powered Escalade line, a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model in the Luxury trim, will start at $89,590, including a mandatory $1,995 delivery fee. The least expensive Escalade IQ electric model will start at $129,990, including $2,290 for shipping.
The price difference is huge but not surprising. The Escalade IQ will likely be a rare sight for the first year. Cadillac built it as an extreme example of what its engineers can do. Cadillac’s other electric SUVs, the Lyriq and Optiq, exist to be accessible and will be more common. The Escalade IQ exists to be impressive and will be exclusive.
It’s immense, with essentially two batteries and massive 24-inch wheels. It’s powerful, with 750 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque. And it’s ultra-luxurious, with available heated and ventilated 14-way adjustable massaging seats in the second row.
Cadillac says it can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes plugged into a DC fast charger. Standard rear-wheel steering and an adaptive suspension should keep it from feeling ponderous from the driver’s seat.
We’d love to tell you what to compare it to. But, frankly, there’s nothing quite like it in the automotive world yet. Rivals are likely to produce their own ultra-kitted-out super-luxury full-size electric SUVs eventually. But, for now, the Escalade IQ is one of a kind.
