The stylish Acura TLX is an appealing midsize luxury sedan for many reasons. With a starting MSRP under $40,000, it’s one of the most affordable options in its class, especially compared to its European rivals.
Don’t let its affordability mislead you; there’s nothing “cheap” about the TLX. It strikes a nice balance of luxury, practicality, and a fun driving experience. That’s especially true if you opt for the mighty Type S.
Let’s take a look at the 2023 Acura TLX model range and find the right premium sedan for you.
2023 Acura TLX (Starting at $39,850)
The base trim of the Acura TLX is well-equipped for its price. Standard features include a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and a power moonroof. Leatherette-trimmed sport seats come standard, as do heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming mirror, and a universal garage door opener.
The standard infotainment system is a 10.2-inch screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Siri Eyes Free, voice recognition, and a 10-speaker audio system.
The standard AcuraWatch safety tech suite bundles many desirable driver assistance tech features. It includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams.
2023 Acura TLX Technology (Starting at $43,850)
Upgrading to the Technology trim does what its name implies; it adds more tech features. The standard powertrain remains the same — a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive.
Additional standard features include 19-inch wheels, leather seats with contrast stitching, Iconic Drive ambient interior lighting with 27 themes, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, navigation, GPS-linked automatic climate control, and an ELS Studio 13-speaker audio system.
2023 Acura TLX A-Spec (Starting at $46,600)
The A-Spec trim is primarily a sporty appearance package. But it’s also the only trim in the TLX lineup where all-wheel drive is optional for an extra $2,000.
That appearance package we mentioned includes LED fog lights, black exterior accents, and a black rear spoiler. Inside, it gets Ultrasuede interior accents with contrast stitching and piping, a flat-bottom sport steering wheel, geometric patterned brushed aluminum trim, and an ebony headliner.
A few extra perks on top of the appearance package include heated and ventilated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and an ELS Studio 3D 17-speaker audio system.
2023 Acura TLX Advance (Starting at $51,050)
The upscale Advance model is the top trim for the 4-cylinder TLX. It comes standard with all-wheel drive, plus an adaptive suspension system, LED puddle lamps and power-folding mirrors. Inside, 16-way power front seats with thigh extension and side bolsters coddle the driver and front passenger. Rain-sensing wipers come standard.
A few luxurious features exclusive to the Advance trim include 19-inch machine-finished wheels. Inside, you’ll get heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, open-pore wood trim, a 10.5-inch head-up display, and a surround-view camera system.
2023 Acura TLX Type S (Starting at $55,550)
The sporty TLX Type S is powered by a turbocharged V6 engine producing 355 horsepower. That’s a significant performance upgrade over the standard 4-cylinder engine. Additional performance features include an adaptive suspension system, rev-matching downshifts, high-performance chassis bracing, Brembo 4-piston front brakes, and a Sport+ drive mode.
The Type S has an aggressive appearance package similar to the A-Spec. But it adds an open surface diamond pentagon grille, a gloss black front splitter and rear diffuser, and 20-inch wheels with Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires.
In addition to the standard interior and tech features on the A-Spec trim, you also get 16-way power front seats, power-folding mirrors, LED puddle lights, and rain-sensing wipers.
For an extra $800, you can add the Performance Wheel and Tire package to the TLX Type S. This adds 20-inch lightweight Y-spoke tires with Pirelli P-Zero summer tires.
