You can once again buy a 2024 Chevy Blazer EV. General Motors has resumed selling the model after a months-long pause to address software issues.
“We are excited to have the Chevrolet Blazer EV available again, this time with a compelling price, enhanced features and functionality, and qualifying for the full consumer tax credit,” Scott Bell, vice president of global Chevrolet, said in a statement.
A Mixed Reception and a Quality Pause
The Blazer EV had one of the most unusual product launches we’ve ever seen. It earned early praise from the automotive press, including MotorTrend’s SUV of the Year award. Our own expert test driver called it “a force to be reckoned with in the all-electric midsize SUV class” and praised its sporty driving dynamics and “up-to-the-minute styling and tech.”
But journalists typically get a few days, at most, with a brand new model.
Shortly after the first Blazer EVs began to reach customer driveways, reports of software glitches piled up.
Chevrolet then paused sales to deal with the list of issues.
Prices Cut, EV Tax Credit Back
Some buyers will pay significantly less for the Blazer than they would have before the pause. “GM is also lowering the prices of several Blazer EV models by about $6,000,” the AP reports.
The company says the Blazer EV now qualifies for the federal government’s $7,500 EV tax credit. The IRS does not yet list it as a qualifying model, but automakers sometimes break news of tax credit eligibility before the agency updates its list.
To qualify for the credits, vehicles must include a certain percentage of parts and raw materials originating from the U.S. or certain trade partners. GM has been reconfiguring its supply lines to qualify more models for the discount.
2024 Chevrolet Blazer Pricing
Prices include a mandatory $1,395 destination charge. Many buyers may also be eligible for a $7,500 federal EV tax credit. These prices are before possible incentives.
