Chevy Camaros Recalled Over Flying Emblems

2021 Chevrolet Camaro SS

Chevrolet has issued a recall affecting just 30 Chevrolet Camaros from model years 2017 through 2021 due to an emblem on the steering wheel that can become a dangerous projectile in an accident. A small number of Camaros have an improperly molded emblem. The plastic badge can separate from the steering wheel cover when the airbag deploys. It can potentially fly into the driver’s face.

Chevrolet is aware of no injuries due to the problem. It was discovered when an engineer noticed it during cold-weather testing. The recall covers a small set of vehicles, Chevy says, because “manufacturing records and part trace data were used to identify” vehicles that might have the “suspect service part.”

Owners should expect to receive a notice in the mail. Their Chevy dealer will replace the emblem free of charge.
