2022 Chevy Bolt, Bolt EUV EPA Range Estimates Revealed

Chevrolet has two new electric cars coming soon. They share a name but are different sizes. As of today, they also have different ranges. The EPA has certified the range for both the new 2022 Chevy Bolt and the larger Chevy Bolt EUV.

The subcompact Bolt sports a new look for the 2022 model year. Mechanically, nothing has changed. But it features new exterior styling and dramatically better interior materials.

The upgrades come with a big price drop – a $5,000 cut over the 2021 model’s price – but the price reflects the fact that the Bolt is no longer eligible for the federal government’s $7,500 EV tax credit. The 2022 Bolt starts at $31,00, plus a $995 delivery fee.

According to the EPA, the 2022 Bolt is good for 259 miles on a charge. That’s the same figure as the 2021 model.

The larger Bolt EUV is an entirely new car. It will get you a little less range. It is EPA-certified for 247 miles on a charge.

The lower number isn’t a surprise, given that the EUV model offers more passenger and cargo space. It’s six inches longer, and doesn’t share a single body panel with its smaller sibling. The Bolt EUV starts at $33,000, plus the same $995 destination charge.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see the larger Bolt EUV outsell the standard Bolt. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the average American driver travels less than 40 miles a day – making 12 miles of total range you rarely use a minuscule penalty to pay for more space.
