The Multi-Flex Tailgate available on the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 is one of our favorite features on any current pickup. It’s now available on Chevrolet Silverado HD heavy-duty models as well.
The Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD will offer the tailgate for the 2022 model year.
The Multi-Flex Tailgate includes several hinged panels, allowing it to operate in five configurations:
- A traditional tailgate
- An extended load-stop to keep longer items in place
- Partially folded out of the way to allow easier access to the cargo box
- A standing workstation
- A step that, combined with an assist handle, allows easy bed access
Buttons on the truck’s keyfob and on the tailgate itself operate the tailgate. Opting for the Multi-Flex Tailgate does mean buyers have to give up the power-operated tailgate available on the LT, LTZ, and High Country trims.
The 2022 Silverado HD models will be available this summer. A price for the Muli-Flex option hasn’t been announced, but on the Silverado 1500, it runs $595.
