Not much more to go on for now than this early sketch, but Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superlegarra will be heading to Geneva next month with its modern-day interpretation of one of the slickest look Alfa Romeo-based limited-production cars ever created. While the original 1952 Disco Volante – of which only four were ever built by the then Carrozzeria Touring operation – was based on an Alfa Romeo 1900 wrapped in futuristic-looking bodywork, this new incarnation is expected to ride on a platform borrowed from the high-performance Alfa Romeo 8C Competitizione model that packed a Ferrari-sourced 450-horsepower/4.7-liter V8. If the new Carrozzeria Touring Superlegarra Disco Volante Concept even comes close to rivaling the lasting acclaim of its iconic predecessor, it could well prove to be one of the real stars of this year’s gathering in Geneva.
