Camaro to Drop 1LE Track Package on All but V8 Models

2021 Chevrolet Camaro SS

It’s not easy to find an affordable, track-worthy sports car in America today. For 2022, it’s about to get harder.

One of the few remaining options under $30,000 is to buy a 2021 Chevy Camaro with a 6-speed stick and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and select the 1LE track package. For just under $30,000, the setup includes Track and Competition modes and a track-tuned suspension from Chevy’s SuperSport division. It also features a fuel injection system designed to handle high-G turns without stalling, beefed-up cooling, Brembo brakes, and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Most importantly, the package extends warranty coverage to include track use.

It’s largely going away. GM has notified dealers that it will soon offer the 1LE package only on V8-equipped Camaros for the 2022 model year. That means even the mid-level V6 is losing its track pack.

You’ll still be able to get the 1LE package on the Camaro SS, with its 455-horsepower V8, or the ZL1, with its even more powerful 650-horsepower supercharged V8. But that places the cheapest track-ready Camaro north of $43,000.

There are still 1LE-equipped Camaros on some dealership lots, and the option still exists on Chevy’s online Camaro configuration tool. But if you’re in the market for a track day car on a budget, act fast.
