One more entry is about to appear on the virtual grid of the popular Sony Playstation game Gran Tursimo 6, and according to its creator, this design exercise will possess a good deal of real-world potential. Initially teased with an image of a cooling duct and due to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo was conceived to set itself apart from the average VGT exercise, according to Achim Anscheidt, head of the Bugatti design team.

"We have not developed a fantasy product of the type normally seen in this category of the game. We had the clear goal of developing a vehicle which could also be driven on a real race circuit if it left the virtual world." Beyond confirming that Bugatti is using the Vision Gran Turismo Concept as the first step towards the next Bugatti super sports car, Anscheidt notes that the Vision Gran Turismo also introduces a new design language that also will influence the successor to the automaker’s iconic Veyron model that recently completed its scheduled production run of 450 units.

Extremely performance oriented

"In view of the nature of the project, our concept car for ‘Vision Gran Turismo’ will be exaggerated and extremely performance-oriented. Even so, the progressive design language will give an impressive demonstration of the path to be taken by Bugatti design over the next few years." Although the teaser shows only a cooling duct detail, the VGT Concept should prove an intriguing exercise. The Veyron’s successor is rumored to take design cues and power to new levels active-aero body elements and output of its quad-turbo W16 engine reaching nearly 1,500 horsepower.

Bugatti Automobiles President Wolfgang Dürheimer claims another benefit to the Vision Gran Turismo undertaking. While admitting the firm’s cars are by their very nature only available to an extremely small group of well-heeled automobile connoisseurs, the VGT Concept — which can be downloaded online after the car’s reveal in Frankfurt — will be easily accessible to literally thousands of dedicated gamers and high-performance aficionados around the world. "This is a project for our fans."
