The last in a series of six unique Bugatti Veyron 16.4 limited run models debuts next week on the Monterey Peninsula. Fittingly, this final installment has been created to honor the man behind the legendary marque, Ettore Bugatti. Like its five predecessors – all of which will be on hand for a once-in-a-lifetime group appearance at "The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering" – only three copies of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Ettore Bugatti Legend will be produced. In this case, the price for each will be roughly $3.14 million.

As with the other Legend models, the Ettore Bugatti variant is based on the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. Fitted with an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine that makes 1,184 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque, the car is capable of blasting from 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds and can reach 254 mph with its removable top stowed — stats that Bugatti says makes Grand Sport Vitesse the world’s fastest production roadster.
Design recalls the Type 41 Royale
Visually, the Ettore Bugatti Legend draws its exterior design inspiration from the iconic 1932 Type 41 Royale with a two-tone motif that matches clear-coated hand-polished aluminum up front with dark-blue exposed carbon fiber rear panels. Also finished in dark blue, the car’s polished diamond-cut alloy wheels recall the lightweight aluminum rims fitted to Bugatti’s pioneering Type 35 racing model.

Inside, the Ettore Bugatti Legend features two types of supple leather. Conventional calf hide in Brun Cavalier covers the seats and door panels while matching natural cordovan wraps all of the key touch points. Blue carbon fiber also appears here in the form of accents while a sculpted dancing elephant relief that reprises the Type 41 Royale’s hood ornament is found on the cover of the rear-center stow bin.
