BMW recalled 114 X3 SUVs from model year 2025 because an overheating battery cable can cause them to stall and pose a fire risk.
BMW tells federal safety officials, “The connection between the positive battery cable and the starter-generator that may be out-of-specification.” It can generate heat, which could lead to engine shutdown increasing the risk of a crash or “increase the risk of smoldering” or even a vehicle fire.
Dealers will fix the problem by adjusting the connection to the proper specification.
