BMW is expanding its M Performance accessories catalog with a host of new functional/cosmetic pieces specifically designed for the latest M5 Sedan and M6 Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe models. According to a U.S. spokesman, the parts should be available here by year’s end. Two items stand out in this newly richened mix. The first is a lightweight titanium exhaust system developed in collaboration with BMW M motorsport partner Akrapovic. It’s 22 pounds lighter than the standard plumbing and also adds a bit more bite to the bark of the M car’s 560-hp V8 engine as the rev count rises. The other main functional upgrade comes in the form of M-designed carbon-ceramic brakes. Bigger but nearly 43 pounds lighter than the normal brakes, these virtually fade-free super-stoppers will be available in conjunction with new 20-inch M light alloy wheels.

In addition to model-specific carbon fiber decklid spoilers and rear diffusers, M5/M6 owners will be able to further personalize the exteriors of their vehicles with carbon exterior mirror caps, a BMW M Performance high-gloss black front grille and BMW M Performance stripes. New interior bits include an Alcantara-covered M Performance steering wheel with or without a competition-style integrated display that shows gear selection, lateral/longitudinal acceleration and can even present and save lap times, plus a variety of carbon fiber trim accents, stainless steel sport pedals and BMW M Performance floor mats. As with the current line of BMW accessories, all parts come with a full manufacturer’s warranty when carried out by a factory BMW/BMW M dealer or service partner.
