Providing a first look at a likely limited-production model, the Bentley Grand Convertible made a high-profile debut in Los Angeles. Based on the flagship Mulsanne sedan, this exquisitely crafted drop-top was "developed to signify Bentley’s intentions" for an open-air model that embodies "elegance beyond compare."

Finished in Sequin Blue with a hood and windshield frame rendered in a silver

"liquid metal" finish, the Grand Convertible’s hand-made tonneau is matched, mirror-finished dark-stained Burr Walnut and the largest piece of wood veneer ever to grace any Bentley. No fewer than 14 naturally tanned hides were required to furnish the cabin of this one-off, with progressive diamond-quilting patterns on its Beluga leather seats and door panels set off by Sequin Blue contrast stitching.

Motivation for this Ultra Bentley is supplied by the firm’s 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces a Mulsanne Speed-spec 530 horsepower and 811 lb ft of torque, enough to ensure that its performance will match its luxurious character. The car also rides on custom-spec 21-inch directional alloy wheels.  "We are eagerly awaiting the response of our customers to this car, noted Bentley Chairman and CEO, Wolfgang Dürheimer at the reveal. "We will ensure that this car – if it reaches the roads – will be a highly exclusive, extremely limited collector’s piece."
