Audi has issued a recall order that affects almost all of its 2022 lineup, and a handful of 2021 cars. A problem with the software that powers the latest version of Audi’s Modular Infotainment Toolkit system can prevent the cars’ screens from displaying the image from their backup cameras.
The list of affected Audis includes some, but not all versions of the:
- 2021 Audi A8 and S8
- 2022 Audi A5 Sportback
- 2022 A4 Sedan
- 2022 E-Tron GT
- 2022 Q3
- 2022 Q5 and Q5 Sportback
- 2022 RS 6 Avant
- 2022 A3 and S3 Sedans
- 2022 S5 Sportback
- 2022 Q7 and SQ7
- 2022 Q8, SQ8, and RS Q8
Audi caught the problem in time to fix some affected vehicles at the factory or in ports before delivery to dealers. So owners will have to wait for a recall notice to find out if their specific car is affected.
Dealers will fix the issue with a free software patch. But most of the cars don’t have the ability to accept updates over the air, so owners will need to bring them into the dealership for the fix.
Recall repairs are always free. Automakers try to reach every owner when a car is recalled, but inevitably, some owners miss the notices. Find out whether your car is eligible for any free safety repairs at our recall center.
