Audi tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “Within the virtual cockpit, malfunction of a specific flat cable could occur. Even with only minor damage to this flat cable, the software is so sensitive that it detects a slightly increased contact resistance and shuts down the display to protect it.”
The company knows of no accidents or injuries related to the issue, but more than 2,200 customer complaints about it.
Dealers will fix it with a software update.
