Previewed in Geneva earlier this year when Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s president and CEO, confirmed the company would be launching a new AMR sub-brand, the first of these performance models, the Aston Martin Vantage AMR in V8 and V12 versions, bowed at Le Mans in conjunction with the running of the 24-hour racing classic. Only 300 AMR Vantages will be produced globally in both Coupe and Convertible form, 200 with V8 power and 100 fitted with firm’s V12.
Competition-bred character
Inspired by the firm’s V8 Vantage GTE FIA racer and based on the track-only Vantage AMR Pro, these road-going versions boast expressive cosmetic touches and color schemes plus bespoke wheel/tire fitments. Each also can be personalized with a host of lightweight carbon fiber components that range from seats to grilles and side strakes as well as an AMR Aero Kit that includes a composite front splitter, dive planes, side sills and a fixed rear spoiler.

While the 4.7-liter engine in the V8 Vantage AMR carries over unchanged at 430 horsepower, output of the 6.0-liter naturally aspirated engine in the V12 Vantage AMR has been bumped to 595 horses, a gain of 30 over the baseline car. Both variants come with Aston’s paddle-shift 7-speed automated sequential manual transmission but can be had with a conventional 6-speed (V8) or 7-speed (V12) manual gearbox.

“It’s a real thrill to see our first AMR model go into production,” noted Palmer at the reveal. “The Vantage has been an incredible success for Aston Martin, both in V8 and V12 forms. As our most agile and athletic road car, and our long-time representative in the world of GT racing, it is the perfect model with which to introduce the exciting AMR range.” Deliveries of the Vantage AMG models are set to start in the fourth quarter. U.S. pricing has not yet been released.
