Hyundai is expected to unveil an all-new fifth-generation Tucson SUV for the U.S. market soon, but we have an early preview thanks to the reveal of the Korean-market Tucson. While the specifications and features listed here target that country’s needs, we’ll likely see many of the same options when the all-new Tucson arrives on our shores.
The Korean-market 2027 Tucson will be available with gas and hybrid powertrain options, both using a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. The base gas engine offers 193 PS (around 190 hp), while the hybrid model delivers 245 PS (around 242 hp) and up to 41 mpg combined using Korean fuel economy standards. Gas models come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, but Hyundai didn’t disclose the hybrid model’s gearbox.
Hyundai focused on drivability and comfort with the new Tucson, adding an updated suspension system that adapts more precisely to road conditions. The hybrid model has an E-traction system that improves lateral and vertical body movements, and both models have more controlled body roll in high-speed turns.
The new Tucson also has a heavy emphasis on aerodynamics, with revised 17-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and active air flaps to reduce air resistance and boost fuel economy.
Hyundai’s new PLEOS Connect interface comes standard, bringing next-generation AI-assisted features. Hyundai says the “Gleo AI” assistant can understand natural conversation and provide situation-appropriate information, searches, and more. The Korean Tucson comes with a 12.9- or 17-inch infotainment display, but it retains physical controls for critical functions like climate settings.
Safety features for the 2027 Tucson include navigation-based adaptive cruise control, rear parking collision-avoidance assistance, an available surround-view monitor system, and a memory reverse system that can automatically back the vehicle out of tight parking spaces.
