2026 BMW iX Gets Big Price Cut, Available Glowing Schnozz

The 2026 BMW iX seen from head on

The 2025 BMW iX has two big things — its price and its in-your-face two-kidney grille. One of them will shrink for 2026, and it’s not the honker.

The 2026 BMW iX will start at $76,325 (including a mandatory $1,175 destination charge). That’s $12,100 less than the 2025 model on dealer lots today.

The iX, for the uninitiated, is an all-electric midsize SUV known for extreme performance. It’s not strictly an electric equivalent to the X5. The iX looks different and, in most forms, is quicker and more expensive. But it fills a similar role in BMW’s lineup – the X5 is the brand’s gas-powered midsize SUV, and the iX is its electric one.

All-New Trim Levels

The new price comes with a new entry-level trim. For 2025, the base model is the iX xDrive50, with 516 horsepower from two electric motors, meaning standard all-wheel drive (AWD). For 2026, a new iX xDrive45 appears. It’s still AWD but with a lower power figure — a measly 402 hp. Zero-to-60 takes 4.9 seconds, BMW says.

A step up, the new iX xDrive60 trim makes 536 hp. A new top-of-the-line iX M70 xDrive takes power all the way up to 650.

Other changes include a range boost. BMW hasn’t specified numbers for each trim level but says a new inverter and slightly larger battery should boost range by about 10%, taking range as high as 340 miles “properly equipped.”

New Lighting, Including Lighted Grille Option

Reshaped headlights change the front. A new rear diffuser alters the look in back, but only on M70 editions.

BMW fans gave the iX’s huge kidney grille a mixed reception when it first appeared. Those who dislike it can leave it more or less the same on the new model. But those who like it can now order it illuminated – something sure to elicit groans from Bimmer traditionalists.

Inside, new M multifunction seats “offer enhanced lateral support and a striking design,” BMW says. A new M Sport design package option adds “an M leather steering wheel, two-tone instrument panel with M logo, Dark Silver trim finishers, anthracite headliner, M pedals, and high-gloss black trim on the center console.”

EV designers are still discovering new ways to control climate without draining battery life. BMW says a newly available Climate Comfort Package heats many surfaces in the car, including “the instrument panel and glove compartment, the door panels, center armrest, and the rear seats.” That could use less energy to warm the cabin than heating moving air.

The updated iX should reach dealers in the second quarter of 2025, BMW says.
