2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI, Golf R Pricing Announced

The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI will start at $33,670, with the high-performance Golf R coming close to the $50,000 line.

As expected, the Golf will lose its manual transmission option for 2025. VW dealers offered a special goodbye-to-the-stick edition last year. Every 2025 Golf comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Updates for the new model year include a reshaped front bumper and headlights with a simpler shape connected by a front light bar. The VW logo now comes illuminated, even on base models.

Inside, a new 12.9-inch touchscreen replaces the 10-inch unit in 2024 models. However, VW loyalists will be more excited to hear that real switchgear replaces the haptic-touch sliders that control the climate system. Those have come in for so much criticism that VW, in late 2023, promised to bring back buttons.

Volkswagen’s ChatGPT-based virtual assistant is available on even base models but requires a subscription fee.

The GTI sees no mechanical upgrades, but the Golf R gains 13 horsepower (now rated at 328) and 15 lb-ft of torque (310 total).
