2025 Toyota Tundra Gets Retro Racing Look

The 2025 Toyota Tundra seen from a front quarter angle with the available TRD Rally Package

You may remember Toyota trucks with yellow/orange/red prism decals if you’re old enough. Toyota is slowly bringing back a signature of its 1980s passions.

The 3-color stripe was a staple of Toyota racing trucks when Ronald Reagan was in the White House, and Prince was titling albums “1999” to cue us to imagine the future. It faded when blue jeans lost their fade and has been scarcely seen since.

Toyota brought it back, in full laser-like glory, on the 40th-anniversary edition of its 4Runner SUV two years ago. We thought that was a playful one-off. But the racing colors are back – much smaller, but back – on the 2025 Toyota Tundra.

They won’t appear on every Tundra — just those whose buyers opt for the TRD Rally Package. The new package gives the truck 18-inch TRD off-road wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber, Bilstein shocks, and skid plates, an electronically controlled rear locking differential, Toyota’s Multi-Terrain select system (which adjusts for mud, sand, snow, etc.), and crawl control off-road cruise control.

The 3-stripe motif appears inside on the seats and dashboard, upholstered in SoftTex artificial leather.

Other 2025 Tundra updates include massaging seats on the Platinum, Tundra, and leather-heavy 1794 grades. The 2024 Tundra has a power-open tailgate, but the 2025 Tundra will have a more useful power-open-and-close tailgate.

Those looking to tow will appreciate an optional camera system. It includes a camera that attaches to the rear of a trailer and broadcasts its image to the digital rearview mirror.

Toyota hasn’t revealed pricing. The 2024 Tundra starts at $41,920 (including $1,945 for delivery), pushing prices into the low $80,000 range for a fully-equipped luxury model.
