2025 Toyota Highlander Gets 25th Anniversary Model, AWD Hybrid

The 2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid 25th Anniversary Edition

The venerable Toyota Highlander lost its place on the list of the 25 best-selling vehicles in America earlier this year. But, as it celebrates its 25th birthday in 2025, its place in the American imagination is secure.

The Highlander is a benchmark in the 3-row midsize SUV class, known for world-class build quality, easy driving manners, and good fuel economy for a vehicle that seats up to eight. If you’re willing to pay for even better fuel economy, there’s a hybrid version.

Toyota even builds a supersize Highlander – the Grand Highlander, with a more spacious third row suitable for adults.

The Highlander faces more competition than ever. An all-new  Honda Pilot and heavily refreshed Hyundai Palisade and  Kia Telluride are well worth a look. But the Highlander has reached the quarter-century mark because it makes a lot of sense for many buyers.

Toyota will make incremental changes to the Highlander lineup for 2025 and introduce a celebratory anniversary model.

25th Anniversary Edition

The 25th Anniversary Edition is based on the Highlander Hybrid Limited.

Highlander 25th Anniversary Edition buyers can choose from Heavy Metal or Wind Chill Pearl exterior paint. They’ll get side rockers, 20-inch wheels, and front and rear bumpers accented in silver. Puddle lamps and illuminated door sills come standard.

Inside, Portabello leather seats wear 25th-anniversary embossing. Carpeted floor mats and an all-weather cargo mat make the space for passengers attractive and the space for their gear rugged.

Toyota will build just 2,500 of the 25th-anniversary models for the model year 2025, and this sentence needs no more words to be 25 long.

Larger Screens for Some Trims; Hybrid Goes AWD-Only

Conventional gas-powered Highlander models, otherwise, will see little change for the new year. XSE models get a larger 12.3-inch gauge cluster screen, already available on the XLE and Limited models.

All hybrid models will be all-wheel drive (AWD), but buyers can still specify front-wheel drive (FWD) on gas-powered Highlander SUVs.
