2025 Subaru WRX Drops Base Model, Now Starts at $36,920

The 2025 Subaru WRX tS seen from a front quarter angle

Subaru is on our good list for continuing to build a relatively affordable compact 4-door sedan focused on performance, the Subaru WRX. But, for the 2025 model year, the word “relatively” will grow a little more important in sentences like that.

Subaru has dropped the most affordable trim level from the WRX lineup for the new model year. That pushes the introductory price to $36,920 (including a $1,170 delivery fee) – about $3,000 more than the 2024 model on dealer lots today.

The price change is misleading because Subaru hasn’t raised the price of the least expensive WRX. They’ve just stopped building a simplified Base model that wasn’t selling well. That makes the Premium trim the new entry point, but a 2025 WRX Premium is just $1,165 more than an equivalent 2024 model.

All 2025 models, even those equipped with a stick, get the full suite of EyeSight driver assistance technology. That means adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, and more.

Changes for the new model year are minor, such as a New Galaxy Purple paint color available across the WRX lineup. And, though Subaru hasn’t brought back the beloved STI edition, it will offer a WRX tS edition “tuned by STI” that pairs a sportier suspension with the stick shift, grippy Alcantara-wrapped sport seats, and a fully digital 12.3-inch gauge cluster.

2025 Subaru WRX Pricing

All prices include a $1,170 destination fee – up $50 from 2024.

Subaru offers just two additional cost options this year: a $1,895 package that adds an upgraded sound system and a moonroof, and a $395 upcharge for the new purple shade.
