2025 Porsche Taycan Better In Every Way, And You’ll Pay For It

The all-electric 2025 Porsche Taycan will drive faster and farther between charges than the 2024 Taycan. It will charge more quickly. It will look better. The 2025 Taycan will have a more comfortable and stylish cabin. And it will cost almost $9,000 more.

Porsche’s first (but no longer its only) electric model, the Taycan (pronounced “tie con”), is a 4-seater sedan with the sleek, curvy lines only Porsche can build. It’s getting a midcycle refresh — an update at the halfway point of a model’s lifespan that falls short of a full redesign.

Often, that means a reshaped grille and a few updated bits of cabin tech. But, for the 2025 Taycan, it means a much more extensive set of changes.

Porsche says the 2025 edition will “benefit from more power, greater range, quicker acceleration, and the possibility of even faster charging.”

Sedan, Cross Turismo Return

At least two of three body styles return. Porsche has released pricing for the sedan and lifted Cross Turismo wagon versions. The Sport Turismo wagon, more road-oriented and lacking the extra ground clearance, does not appear on the 2025 price list.

The sedan starts at $101,395 (including the $1,995 destination fee). The Cross Turismo starts at $113,095.

The front end has been simplified, losing vertical strakes that trailed down from the old model’s headlights. Porsche has flattened the fenders, too. The moves combine to make the car seem wider, though its dimensions remain unchanged.

Turbo models get new “turbonite” gunmetal badges and trim. Yes, Porsche calls some trim levels “turbo,” even when there is nothing to turbocharge.

New Integration With Apple CarPlay

Aesthetic changes to the interior are minor, but technology updates are not. Even entry-level models now get brushed aluminum doorsill protectors, and leather-free interior choices include a new black-and-slate-gray color scheme.

Little technology touches show that Porsche designers put real thought into how a driver interacts with their car. Anyone used to using Apple CarPlay, for instance, is likely annoyed by now that you have to page in and out of the system to move between streaming music controls and climate controls for the car. So Porsche eliminated that, working with Apple to give drivers access to many car functions directly from the CarPlay screen.

Porsche also added cooling to the wireless phone charging tray, which is the first time we’ve seen a charging pad that won’t heat your phone.

Up to 938 Horsepower, Push-To-Pass Boost

Porsche hasn’t released full technical specifications yet but says power in the top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo S is up to 938 horsepower — well above the 750 of the 2024 model.

“The new Taycan Turbo S sedan is now capable of reaching 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than previously, making it the quickest production car Porsche has ever offered to date,” the company says.

Even at the low end of the price scale, performance is improved. “The rear-wheel drive Taycan sedan now sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, making it 0.6 seconds quicker than before.” Taycan models with the Sport Chrono package get a new push-to-pass feature with a steering-wheel-mounted boost button for a quick power burst.

Since its 2019 introduction, the Taycan has ridden on an 800-volt architecture. Capable of accepting energy at twice the rate of any Tesla, it’s long been one of the faster-charging electric vehicles (EVs).

But Porsche says charging times have improved as well. “It can be charged at 800-volt DC charging stations at up to 320 kilowatts under ideal conditions. That’s 50 kW more than before.” Since public chargers that can put out 800 volts remain uncommon, a new 150-kW DC/DC converter “aims to optimize charging speeds on 400-volt networks.”
